There are still a few programs left before you start school. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and we thank you so much for spending part of it with the library.
Next Tuesday (8/16) from 4 to 6 at Patterson Library is Family Fun Day. There will be hot dogs, prize drawings, and more.
Also if anyone would like to come to the Cinema Celebration at Mahon Library on Thursday (8/18) RSVP to the blog. We are going to see Gnomeo & Juliet, Rio, & Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. There will be refreshments and pizza. We just need a head count for the pizza and let us know if you would like cheese or peperoni.

Grand prize
On Thursday two lucky teens are going to win a Barnes & Noble Nook ereader. Be sure to turn in your fourth game card by noon on Wednesday to be eligible for the drawing. We are also going to be drawing for gift cards. Winners will be notified at the movies. Good Luck!

Movie Extravaganza
Next wednesday at noon is the deadline to turn in your fourth game card. Bring your pass to the lobby at Movies 16 on August 4 and exchange your pass for a ticket. You must RSVP via the blog or by leaving a message at 775-2839 by noon on Wednesday, August 3 to ensure your movie ticket. Please get there at least 15 minutes before your movie starts.
Staff will be available at these selected showings:
11:30 a.m. Smurfs 3D (only option for a 3D movie) -- PG -- 100 mins
2:00 p.m. Captain America -- PG13 -- 124 mins
4:50 p.m. Winnie the Pooh -- G -- 63 mins
6:15 p.m. Smurfs (2D)
6:15 p.m. Cowboys vs. Aliens -- PG-13 -- 112 mins
6:45 p.m. Zookeeper -- PG -- 104 mins
Here are other options that staff will not be available at but you can get tickets for. Please RSVP to ensure that tickets will be purchased for you:
11:00 a.m. -- Cowboys vs. Aliens, Captain America, or Zookeeper (11:05)

Dance Party Thursday
Come to Patterson Library today at 2 p.m. to dance like Michael Jackson, sing karaoke, or Just Dance. There will be a variety of other wii games available.

Cake Wars
There are a few spots available if you have not already called Godeke and registered for Cake Wars. On Thursday teens are going to play in teams and decorate a cake for prizes. There is a mystery theme that will be revealed on Thursday. We are going to be set up in what used to be the coffee shop area.

Main Event Extravaganza
Our 3rd Extravaganza at Main Event is less than a week away. Be sure to turn in your 3rd game card by noon on Wednesday (7/13) to get a pass to come join us. We are going to bowl, play laser tag, eat pizza, and play games in two groups. When you arrive on Thursday, you will be assigned to either group Fruit Ninja or Angry Birds (to go with our Going Global...Staying Connected theme). Group Fruit Ninja will bowl first. Group Angry Birds will play laser tag (15 at a time) and get their game cards to play games. We will eat, have PRIZE DRAWINGS and then the groups will change place....or at least that is the tentative plan. See you on Thursday!

Come to Groves on Tuesday, July 12 starting at 2 p.m. to watch part 1 of the last Harry Potter Movie before the 2nd part comes out at the movies on Friday.

Transylvania Clue
Space is quickly filling up for Mahon's Transylvania Clue program (July 7) where you will be the game piece in this spooky version of the popular board game. Be sure to call and register before it is too late (call 775-2838 to register). Refreshments will be served.
Movie Extravaganza Update
Movies 16 told us that they hope to have the showtimes by tonight or tomorrow, so keep checking the blog for titles & times. If mornings (looks like some of their other shows are at 11 or 12) work for anyone post to this blog or call 775-2838 and leave a number that you can be reached at. We may not be able to have a library staff member present but can meet you at the movies to get you your tickets. It looks like Mr. Poppers Penguins will be one of our afternoon choices.

50th Street Caboose Extravaganza
If you have not turned in your first game card, be sure to do that by today. You will get a pass for tomorrow's extravaganza. Be sure to bring that and your food pass when we meet at 50th Street on Thursday. You will give one of the library staff members your extravaganza pass and you will give the wait staff your food pass.
Be sure to bring your report card with you. 50th Street Caboose will give you an extra $10 game card if you made all A's or $5 if you made A's & B's.

Lights, Camera, READ!
Trying to figure out what create a book trailer is on your teen game card? Come to Patterson on Wednesday, June 15 and Groves on Tuesday, June 21 at 2 p.m. to learn how to make a book trailer. You will make a book trailer (short youtube like clip) about your favorite book so feel free to bring props. There will be a few cameras and laptops for you to use but you can also bring your own if you would like.

Christy Moreland had an unexpected trip and will not be able to come but she has gotten us a talent scout to take her place as judge. Teen Summer Reading 2011
The 2011 Teen Summer Reading Program starts on Thursday, May 26 and ends on August 3. Come into any library location beginning on May 26 to sign up for the reading game. Complete game cards to be entered into prize drawings for gift cards and get passes to our Extravaganzas to be held at 50th Street Caboose, Movies 16, and Main Event. A listing of all the library events can be found on the side menu or come into the library to pick up a flyer.
